The Secrets to Making Perfect Fries with an Airfryer

I recently bought an airfryer and thought I’d share my thoughts with you. To be honest, I was quite hesitant to do this, but I was very curious about the airfryer and figured you might be, too. Well, every little review helps, right? If you want to know whether you can actually make delicious fried food without deep-frying anything, then read on.

The First Attempts to Delicious Goodness

The minute I got my airfryer, the first thing that popped into my head was French fries. So, right after unpacking my new appliance, I started cutting up some potatoes to see how things would go.

Probably the first thing that I realized about air-fried French fries is that it isn’t actually faster to cook than deep-fried French fries. As with deep-fried French fries, the air-fried versions will take almost half an hour to cook, too.

The advantage of the air-fried ones, though, is that they didn’t come with any unwanted smells. Plus, I didn’t have to use an entire bottle of oil to make them. On that note, another thing that I realized is that airfryers could use a bit of oil, too. However, a tablespoon is already enough for it.

I tried cooking several batches of French fries to get used to it, but it thankfully didn’t take long to do so. In no time at all, I was able to create beautiful French fries with my airfryer that were absolutely delicious at the same time. With the right potatoes and when cooked right, I can say that air-fried French fries can definitely stand in for deep-fried French fries.

The Steps to Creating the Perfect French Fries

To create the perfect French fries in an airfryer, start by looking for Yukon Gold potatoes. Any yellow-freshed potatoes will do, though. White potatoes aren’t too bad, either. You can also use russets, but they tend to take longer to cook and the results are usually a little more limp than usual.

Then, cut up the fries and soak them in cold water for half an hour. Dry them well afterwards and then add a tablespoon of oil onto the fries before placing them in your airfryer. Then, make sure you toss them well to coat and sprinkle some salt onto them to flavor them as they cook.

Even while cooking, make sure you toss your fries several times to make sure they brown in an even manner. Make sure you don’t place too many fries in your airfryer, either. Over-filling the basket won’t do your fries any good in the end.

My Final Thoughts

The mere thought of effortless, delicious and guilt-free fries already got me excited before, but knowing that I have now perfected the art of making them has made me extremely happy. Even cleaning up the airfryer is incredibly easy as I can just place the cooking basket in the dishwasher. If you have children in your household, this device would definitely be a must-have.

Aside from that, I think everybody wants appliances that can be used for a variety of dishes. I know I do. As such, I can’t wait to try and cook other things in my airfryer. In fact, my plan for the following month is to keep trying to perfect new dishes in my airfryer. Sweet potato fries, chicken wings and vegetables are currently on my airfryer bucket list and I’m sure I’ll find more recipes online to try and perfect, as well. I am definitely looking forward to the journey ahead.
