If you want to shed a few pounds and start eating healthier, then smoothies are a great way to go. Smoothie recipes are jam-packed with essential vitamins and nutrients, and they are also highly delicious. Plus, smoothies can be made in less than five minutes, and they are very portable. Just pour your smoothie into a tall to-go cup, pop in a straw, and take your smoothie with you wherever you go.
Many restaurants have also caught onto the growing smoothie trend. When you go out to eat, you will often find blended smoothies on the menu, especially at breakfast eateries. Furthermore, there are some restaurants that specialize in blended drinks, selling nothing but smoothies! Take Jamba Juice for example. This chain business vends smoothies pretty much exclusively, and all of the smoothies come with the option of adding a feel-good booster shot, such as the Soy Protein Boost, the Daily Vitamin Boost, the Energy Boost, the Immunity Boost, or the Antioxidant Power Super Boost.
Fruits and vegetables are the main ingredients of smoothies, and as a result, smoothies are rich in fiber, antioxidants, vitamins A, C, and E, and beta carotene. Smoothies will help you to feel fuller for longer, and they will give you the perfect amount of energy to keep you going strong throughout your day. If you’d like to make your own smoothies at home, then the process is a cinch. You will need to invest in a blender, however, if you don’t already have one, but run-of-the-mill blenders typically are not very expensive, and that’s all you will need to create quick n’ easy, great-tasting smoothies.
Here are some of my favorite diet smoothie recipes:
Tomatoes are a fantastic ingredient for super healthy smoothies because of their rich antioxidant properties. Plus, they can help prevent prostate cancer in men.
- 2 cups of chopped tomatoes
- ¼ cup of apple juice
- ½ cup of tomato juice
- ¼ cup of chopped celery
- ½ cup of carrots
- Tabasco or hot sauce for flavor
- 2 cups of ice
You really can’t ever have too many strawberry smoothie recipes! Strawberries are just so sweet and tasty!
- 5 large strawberries
- 4 oz. of Crystal Light or any other form of sugar-free lemonade
- 6 oz. of light or fat-free strawberry yogurt
- 1 packet of substitute sweetener (Equal or Splenda) or 2 teaspoons of sugar
Tropical Berry Tofu Smoothie
This smoothie is a great combination of fruit along with the added health benefits that tofu provides.
- 1 cup of skim milk
- 1 cup of light or fat-free vanilla yogurt
- 3 inch cube of soft tofu
- 1 banana
- ¾ cup of blueberries
- 1 cup of strawberries
For all of these smoothie recipes, all you have to do is put the ingredients into your blender and blend until smooth. It’s that simple! So, the next time that you are hungry and are looking for something that is nutritious, delicious, and a snap to whip-up, make yourself a yummy-tasting fruit or vegetable smoothie!
