My favorite part of any meal has got to be dessert! The sweet ending is a highlight, with a ton of choices. From ice cream to a warm slice of chocolate cake, it refreshes your palate and has you feel the sugar rush and happiness! But of course, with the massive amount of sugar and calories, this guilty pleasure needs to be toned down a bit. Fortunately, there are deserts with benefits you can find in your grocery store or try making yourself!

Three Delicious Desserts With Benefits

Here are three of my favorite desserts with added health benefits!

1. No-Bake Energy Bites

If you're looking for something quick to make and eat for dessert, then everyone will love these energy bites! These will perk you up after a heavy meal or can be made as a snack for the kids.

This creates 14 bites.

  • Total Time: 20 minutes

Ingredients:

  • One cup of sprouted almonds
  • One cup of sprouted pumpkin seeds
  • One cup of gluten-free rolled oats
  • Three ounces of dried bananas
  • Two teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • Two teaspoons of ground cinnamon
  • Half a teaspoon of salt

Steps:

1. Add all the ingredients in a food processor and process until the nuts are ground, and all the ingredients are well-combined, sticking like cookie dough.

2. Using a cookie scooper, scoop and portion out the mixture on a cookie sheet then roll it to create a ball.

3. Serve the balls! You can keep it in a container for one week in the fridge.

2. Overnight Dessert Oats

I am in love with these dessert oats because they are sweet enough to be like dessert but nutritious for breakfast! Filling, creamy, and sweet, this is everything I want in a healthy dish!

This recipe serves three people.

  • Total Time: 15 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Two large bananas
  • 1 1/3 cup of unsweetened almond milk
  • Two teaspoons of vanilla extract
  • One cup of quick cooking oats
  • Two tablespoons of chia seeds
  • Two teaspoons of ground cinnamon
  • Two packets of natural sweeteners
  • Quarter teaspoon of turmeric
  • 1/8 teaspoon of salt

Steps:

1. Mash the bananas then stir in the vanilla extract and almond milk.

2. Add the remaining ingredients and continue to mix until combined. Cover with a plastic wrap then let it stay in the fridge overnight or for eight hours.

3. Serve and enjoy with bananas, nuts, nut butter, or any other topping you desire!

3. Buttermilk Pancakes

Who said pancakes were only a breakfast dish? With these healthy Ricotta Buttermilk pancakes, you'll have a fluffy dessert without the sugar or guilt!

This recipe serves eight pancakes.

  • Prep Time: 15 minutes
  • Cook Time: 20 minutes
  • Total Time: 35 minutes

Ingredients:

  • Half a cup of sweet white Sorghum Flour
  • Six tablespoons of oat flour
  • Four packets of any natural sweetener
  • One teaspoon of baking powder
  • Quarter teaspoon of baking soda
  • Pinch of salt
  • 3/4 cup of part skim Ricotta cheese
  • Half a cup of low-fat buttermilk
  • One large egg
  • One large egg white
  • One teaspoon of lemon zest
  • One teaspoon of vanilla extract

Steps:

1. Spray a nonstick pan with cooking spray then place it on the stove over medium heat.

2. Whisk the flour, sweetener, baking powder and soda, and the salt.

3. In another bowl, which the ricotta, eggs, buttermilk, lemon zest, and the vanilla extract. Combine the dry and wet ingredients and whisk together until combined.

4. Scoop batter into the pan and allow it to cook until you see large bubbles on the pancake and the edges dry. Flip the pancake and cook the other side, repeating this for the remaining butter.

5. Serve immediately with whatever toppings you want!

Wrapping It Up
